Journey through one of Britain’s most scenic border regions, where ancient castles, Roman ruins, and tranquil river valleys tell stories of Wales’ past.
Leaving Cardiff, we travel to Chepstow Castle, which is perched dramatically above the River Wye. Then we move on to the hauntingly romantic ruins of Tintern Abbey, whose Gothic arches inspired poets like Wordsworth. The tour continues to Raglan Castle, a grand Tudor fortress with impressive towers and a fascinating history.
If you’re intrigued by Roman Britain, we can include Caerleon, home to one of Europe’s best-preserved amphitheatres and ancient Roman baths. The Wye Valley itself is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so expect plenty of scenic stops for photos along the riverbanks.
Your itinerary is flexible, allowing you to linger at favourite spots or adjust for daylight hours in winter. By the end of the day, you’ll have explored a beautiful mix of history, legend, and stunning countryside before returning to Cardiff.
