Frequently Asked Questions

Where does the three-day excursion finish?

At London Heathrow Airport or back at Southampton, arranged around your onward travel. The last day is spent in Stratford-upon-Avon and Oxford, so the drive to either end point comes after lunch in Oxford. Tell us which you need when you book and the final afternoon is planned around it rather than squeezed in afterwards.

Do we visit Stonehenge on the first day?

Yes, at the end of it. The day leaves the terminal for Winchester and Salisbury, with lunch in the city and the cathedral’s original Magna Carta, and Stonehenge follows before the drive on to Bath. Putting it late in the day means the night is spent in Bath rather than back at the port.

Do we stay overnight in the Cotswolds?

Yes, on the second night. The day runs from Bath and the Roman Baths into the Cotswolds for Castle Combe, Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold, then settles into the countryside for a quiet evening rather than driving back to a city. It is the difference between seeing the Cotswolds and spending time in them.

What does the last day cover?

Stratford-upon-Avon and Oxford. You start at the birthplace of William Shakespeare, taking in his childhood home and a walk through the historic town, then continue to the university city for its colleges, architecture and streets, with lunch there before you move on. It is deliberately unhurried rather than a dash to the airport.

How does this differ from your three-day tour from London?

The starting point and the route. This one is collected from the Southampton cruise terminal and heads for Winchester, Salisbury, Stonehenge, Bath, the Cotswolds, Stratford and Oxford, while the three-day British Odyssey from London opens with a full day in the capital before the royal palaces, Bath and Stonehenge.

Does this work at the start of a cruise as well as the end?

Both, and as an extended shore excursion too if your ship is in port long enough. It is built as a post-cruise tour, a pre-cruise experience or a longer stretch ashore, with the scheduling flexing around your ship’s arrival and departure times. Our cruise excursions page sets out the shorter options.
