Stonehenge Inner Circle & Roman Baths Full Day Trip from London

— Summary

This 1-day tour is steeped in history and wonder as we experience two of England’s most iconic ancient sites in just one day.

We start the day in the city of Bath where we will visit the Roman Baths and Temple, followed by a relaxing walking tour to discover the local landmarks and hidden gems. After lunch in Bath, we travel to Stonehenge for a Stone Circle Experience outside normal admission hours, but only when the written booking names a confirmed English Heritage slot. It is not a private or exclusive session unless that confirmation expressly says an exclusive group booking has been secured. Constructed around 5500 years ago, this renowned, spiritual landmark is the perfect way to finish off the day.

Stone Circle Experience tickets are purchased directly from English Heritage. Buy your ticket first, then send us the confirmed date and time so we can arrange the private transport and Bath itinerary around it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does inner circle access actually let us do?

English Heritage calls this the Stone Circle Experience. It is a one-hour guided visit outside normal opening hours, with up to 52 people per session divided into two groups of 26 at the stones. It is shared unless you arrange a private session separately with English Heritage.

Why do you ask us to check availability before booking?

You buy the Stone Circle Experience ticket directly from English Heritage. Book that first, then send us the confirmed date and time so we can arrange the private transport and Bath itinerary around it.

What time does the day start?

The start depends on the time shown on your English Heritage ticket. Send us the confirmed slot and we will set out the pickup, Bath visit and return time before the tour is booked.

What do we see in Bath on this tour?

The Roman Baths and Temple first, which is what most people come for, followed by a walking tour of the city with your guide. That takes in the local landmarks and the hidden gems we have picked up over many visits, along with the Georgian architecture Bath is known for. Lunch is a relaxed stop in one of the city’s cafes, restaurants or pubs.

Is the visitor centre included as well as the inner circle?

Yes, the wider site is part of the day rather than an alternative to it. Alongside the inner circle you have time in the Stonehenge landscape and at the visitor centre, where the finds and the displays fill in what the stones themselves cannot tell you. The two together make far more sense than either on its own, which is why the day is built this way.

Is there a version of this tour with Windsor Castle instead of Bath?

Yes. The separate Windsor version follows the same rule: you buy the Stone Circle Experience ticket directly from English Heritage, then Best UK Tours arranges the private transport and Windsor itinerary around the confirmed time.
