— Summary

Discover London’s rock and roll legacy on a private tour that guides you to the sites where iconic music was born.

This is a relaxed, Black cab-driven journey designed for music fans who want to go beyond typical sightseeing and uncover a different facet of the city. Riding in an iconic London black cab, you’ll visit key sites linked to legendary artists, with time to pause, explore, and capture photos along the route.

The tour unites sites associated with artists such as The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and Queen, offering insight into how London influenced their sound and careers. From famed recording studios to former residences and iconic streets integral to the music scene, each stop deepens the narrative.

With your driver guide, you’ll learn the stories behind each location, the way albums came to life, where artists resided, and moments that shaped musical eras. The experience remains flexible, allowing you to enjoy it at your own pace.

This exclusive rock and roll tour offers a captivating way to explore London’s musical heritage, blending iconic sites with the stories that made them legendary. If television rather than music is the draw, our Ted Lasso filming locations tour runs the same way by black cab, out to Richmond upon Thames, where the series was filmed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we stop at the Abbey Road crossing?

Yes, Abbey Road is one of the first stops and you get your photograph on the famous zebra crossing. The studios themselves stand behind it, and your guide explains what was recorded there and why the building matters as much as the crossing does. It is the stop everyone books the tour for, so we make sure there is time to do it properly.

Which artists does the tour cover?

The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and Queen, with the sites that link them to London. The route takes in recording studios, former homes and the streets that were central to the music scene, and your guide explains how the city shaped their sound and their careers. It is a tour of stories as much as of buildings.

Are the musicians' homes open to visitors?

No, those stops are exterior views only, and we are upfront about that. Tower House was Jimmy Page’s home, Garden Lodge was Freddie Mercury’s, and Montagu Square was John Lennon’s for a time. Handel and Hendrix in London is the one you can go into, a museum celebrating both Jimi Hendrix and Handel.

What is the Savile Row stop about?

It is the site of the Apple Corps rooftop, where The Beatles played their final live performance. From the street you are standing below where it happened, which lands rather harder than a photograph of it does. Carnaby Street is close by and we usually take the two together, since both belong to London’s 1960s music and fashion scene.

Is there anywhere to buy guitars or merchandise?

Gibson Garage London may be included as a retailer stop when it is open and time remains. Merchandise, stock and any discount depend on the retailer’s current terms and apply only when the booking confirmation expressly says so.

Do you collect us from our hotel?

Yes, a traditional London black cab collects you from your accommodation and returns you there afterwards, with a flexible drop-off at the end. The cab is what makes this route work, since it gets between Abbey Road, the West End and the Royal Albert Hall far more easily than a coach could. Our London tours page lists the other themed days.
