Cliffs of Moher and the Burren: private tour from Dublin

— Summary

Experience one of Ireland’s most iconic landscapes on a private Cliffs of Moher day tour, enjoying a comfortable ride as your driver guide picks you up in Dublin.

This is a full-day journey across the country, where the experience is just as much about the route as it is the destination. As we leave Dublin behind, the scenery gradually changes, from green farmland to the wild, open landscapes of the west coast. Throughout the day, you’ll have the benefit of a knowledgeable driver-guide who offers insight, local stories, and the flexibility to set the pace to your liking.

Stop at carefully chosen locations that animate Ireland’s history and landscape. Wander through a well-preserved medieval castle that showcases Ireland’s past and explore the unique limestone terrain of the Burren. Each part of the journey deepens your connection to the day.

At the Cliffs of Moher, explore at your own pace. Walk along dramatic cliffs, take in ocean views, and enjoy this vast, unspoiled place on your terms.

This is a relaxed, private experience, no rushing, no large groups, just a well-paced day designed to give you a genuine feel for Ireland’s west coast, with the comfort and flexibility of your own vehicle and guide throughout. If you have more time in Dublin, our Wicklow and Powerscourt private tour and our Trim and Malahide castles day tour follow the same private format closer to the city.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you collect us from our hotel in Dublin?

The product departs from Dublin, but the exact accommodation or residence, vehicle access and return point must be confirmed in writing. Do not assume every address can use the same pickup arrangement.

Where do we stop for lunch on the way?

Doolin may be used as a lunch stop when the route and timing allow. The confirmed itinerary should say whether it is included and how much time is allocated; time at the cliffs, traffic and opening hours can change the plan.

What is the Burren like?

Unlike anywhere else in Ireland. It is a limestone landscape of bare grey rock, and we travel through it on the way to the cliffs while your driver guide explains the terrain, the flora that grows in it and the history written into it. Most guests arrive expecting the cliffs and leave talking about the Burren as well.

Do we stop anywhere else on the drive west?

Yes, we break the journey at one of Ireland’s best-preserved medieval castles, with time for photographs and a brief stretch of the legs. Later in the day there is a small artisan perfumery in the Burren where you can browse handmade products or sit down for a relaxed coffee before the drive back to Dublin.

How much time do we get at the Cliffs of Moher?

The time at the cliffs must fit the full return journey to Dublin and any confirmed stops. Your itinerary should state the expected visit window, while traffic, weather and the site’s live conditions may still require a change on the day.

Can we do this tour from Cork instead of Dublin?

Yes, we run the same cliffs and the same Burren as a day out of Cork for guests staying in the south. The stops differ a little because the approach is different, and our Cliffs of Moher tour from Cork explains how that version runs.
