What makes the Gower Peninsula worth a day from Cardiff?

It was the first place in Britain to be designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which tells you most of what you need to know. Within one day out of Cardiff you get Rhossili Bay, Three Cliffs Bay, limestone cliffs, dunes and long stretches of sand, along with the seaside village of Mumbles for lunch. For a day out of the capital, it is hard to better.

Which beach on the Gower is the best?

Rhossili gets the votes and Three Cliffs gets the photographs, and this tour takes in both so you can settle it for yourselves. Rhossili is the vast one, miles of sand below the cliffs with Worm’s Head reaching out to sea at the end of it. Three Cliffs is the composed one, framed by limestone and backed by dunes, and the most photographed spot on the peninsula.

Where do we stop for lunch on the Gower tour?

In Mumbles, the seaside village just outside Swansea, which is where the day naturally pauses. It is known for its ice cream parlours and its seafood restaurants, and there is time to browse the seafront and the local shops afterwards. You choose where you eat rather than being marched into a set arrangement.

Can we visit Dylan Thomas's house?

The Dylan Thomas Birthplace at 5 Cwmdonkin Drive is a visitor attraction, but access is subject to its current opening and booking arrangements. Ask in advance and treat it as part of the day only when the written itinerary confirms that entry and timing fit.

Is there much walking on the Gower tour?

As much or as little as you want. Three Cliffs Bay and Rhossili both reward getting out and walking, over dunes at one and along the cliff path at the other, but neither demands it and the views from the top are already worth the stop. Tell your driver guide what you are comfortable with and the day is paced for it.

Do we see Worm's Head?

Yes, from Rhossili, and it is the image most guests come away with. Worm’s Head is the dramatic tidal island stretching out from the end of the bay, and it looks more drawn than formed from the cliff path above. There is time for photographs and for a wander along the clifftop, which is where the views open up properly.

What else is worth doing on a day out from Cardiff?
