Can this excursion run before we board rather than after we disembark?

Either direction may be possible, but it is a different operational plan. The written booking must name the terminal, pickup, overnight stay, final destination and safe ship check-in or onward-travel margin before the reverse journey is confirmed.

Where does the two-day excursion drop us at the end?

London, Heathrow or Southampton are proposed end points. Only the destination and arrival time named in the written booking are included, after the ship schedule, route, traffic and onward journey have been checked.

What happens to our luggage on an overnight excursion?

Luggage arrangements depend on the number of passengers, case sizes, vehicle and overnight booking. Send those details before booking and make sure the written quote confirms collection, capacity, the Bath overnight and the onward journey. A reverse trip to join a ship should be treated as a separate arrangement unless it is named in that confirmation.

Is the Winchester stop optional, and what is there to see?

It is listed as an optional first stop, so it depends on how much time your ship’s schedule leaves you. Winchester was England’s ancient capital and the cathedral is the reason most guests pause there, and it makes a gentle introduction to the day before Salisbury and Stonehenge. Salisbury Cathedral holds an original 1215 Magna Carta. Seeing it depends on the Cathedral’s current opening arrangements, admission and enough time in the confirmed first-day route, so do not treat entry as included unless the booking says so.

How does this compare with the three-day cruise excursion?

The extra day changes the direction the tour heads in. Both start at the Southampton terminal and take in Winchester, Salisbury, Stonehenge and Bath, but the three-day excursion carries on into the Cotswolds, Stratford-upon-Avon and Oxford instead of finishing at Windsor Castle.
